Reading progress and book status

It's been a busy few weeks since the name change. Let's go through the changes!

Chaptergather now saves how far you've read. Open a book again and you land on the chapter you were reading, near the paragraph where you stopped. Cheery on top, we added a progress bar showing how far you are.

It even works if you don't want to create an account, but we would love for you to do so.

Authors can now set a status on their book: in progress, completed, on hold or abandoned. Your readers are waiting for the next update, but it may never come... As they supported you in the past, give back a bit of transparency.

For a more practical side, authors can now see how many readers opened each chapter and how many read it to the end.

The cards in Discover have been redesigned. The data on the front side has been a bit redistributed, and you can now see the status, and when the next chapter is due or when the last one was published. The synopsis is on the back: flip the card to read it. Literally, flip the card!

Links on your profile now show the site's icon and your handle instead of the full web address.

Any link can be added, but we also support a few more platforms' handle pattern: Bluesky, Ko-fi, Royal Road, Scribble Hub, Substack, Threads, Wattpad and others.

Yes, competitors are in the list. You are not restricted to use only Chaptergather, so why not expose yourself to more readers. It's up to us to make you all prefer Chaptergather.

Some more technical stuff has been done as well:

• Shared links now show a wide preview with the cover, title and author, and they work in social media.

• Covers and profile pictures load faster.

• "Add to home screen" works again.
