What's New

Catch up on the latest updates and announcements from the Chaptergather team. Looking for the technical version history instead? See Release Notes.

Our recent focus was on "staying in the loop". Let's see what the recent changes brought you.

Notifications

The infamous push notifications are now implemented! Check that bell in the header, you will see your recent notifications and direct link to the notifications page.

No more fear of missing out while Chaptergather is closed, turn on browser notifications and you will be warn when you receive a reviews on your book or you got an answer to your support question.

Not interested in all of these? We get you cover. Chek the settings, you can turn on and off every single type of notifications to match your preferences.

Share in one tap

Found a story you can't stop thinking about? You can now share a book, a chapter or a profile in one tap. Invite your relative to discover that story as well.

We also opened a Facebook page. Come say hi!

End-of-book page

When reaching the last chapter of a story, we used to simply redirect to the review page. We thought we could do more by also sharing the author's links and more stories to discover.

But please, don't hesitate to post a reviews, they are the best feedback an author can get.

A bit of fine tuning

On a long page, one tap now brings you back to the top. No more endless scrolling...

A few small fixes this time:

  • A book still being written now says "First chapter coming soon" instead of showing a blank line.

  • Book cards no longer show their back over their front on some phones, and flipping a card turns the whole card, button included.

  • Refreshing a chapter page keeps you on the view you were on.

The full list is in the Release Notes.

If you have ideas or feedback, let us know on the feature requests page or through the contact form.

Happy writing and reading on Chaptergather!

Things to check before publishing:

  • Reviews: the changelog says "support the author" on the end-of-book page, but not how. If it links to something specific, like Ko-fi, name it.

  • Back to top: I pitched this as a reader perk. Cut it if you'd rather keep the post short.

  • Facebook link: I didn't add one, since the post can't link to it without a URL. The footer has facebook.com/share/19MvQ97KHs/ if you want it.

I can shorten it or adjust the tone if you like.

Published

It's been a busy few weeks since the name change. Let's go through the changes!

Reading progress

Chaptergather now saves how far you've read. Open a book again and you land on the chapter you were reading, near the paragraph where you stopped. Cheery on top, we added a progress bar showing how far you are.

It even works if you don't want to create an account, but we would love for you to do so.

Book status and statistics

Authors can now set a status on their book: in progress, completed, on hold or abandoned. Your readers are waiting for the next update, but it may never come... As they supported you in the past, give back a bit of transparency.

For a more practical side, authors can now see how many readers opened each chapter and how many read it to the end.

Flipping book cards

The cards in Discover have been redesigned. The data on the front side has been a bit redistributed, and you can now see the status, and when the next chapter is due or when the last one was published. The synopsis is on the back: flip the card to read it. Literally, flip the card!

Fancy icons on profile's links

Links on your profile now show the site's icon and your handle instead of the full web address.

Any link can be added, but we also support a few more platforms' handle pattern: Bluesky, Ko-fi, Royal Road, Scribble Hub, Substack, Threads, Wattpad and others.

Yes, competitors are in the list. You are not restricted to use only Chaptergather, so why not expose yourself to more readers. It's up to us to make you all prefer Chaptergather.

Maintenance

Some more technical stuff has been done as well:

  • Shared links now show a wide preview with the cover, title and author, and they work in social media.

  • Covers and profile pictures load faster.

  • "Add to home screen" works again.

The full list is in the Release Notes

Happy writing and reading on Chaptergather!

Published

You might have noticed a small change in the top left corner, we changed our name! ChapterStack is officially becoming Chaptergather!

Don't worry, everything stays exactly where you left it. Your books, chapters, drafts, badges, and account remain completely untouched. Only the name and web address have changed to chaptergather.app to better reflect what this place is all about: bringing writers and readers together.

Along with the new name, we've rolled out a few handy improvements over the past few weeks:

Better Link Sharing & Discovery

Whenever you share a link to your book or chapter in chat apps or social media, it will now show off your book cover, title, and description cleanly. Your stories and author profile are also much easier for new readers to discover online.

Live Word Count

You can now see your chapter's word count in real time right as you write in the editor—no need to guess or copy-paste into another tool to check your progress.

Maintenance

We also squashed a few bugs and made performance tweaks along the way. If you are curious about the detailed list of fixes, take a look at our Release Notes.

As always, if you have ideas, questions, or feedback, let us know via the feature requests page or our contact form.

Happy writing and reading on Chaptergather!

Published

Since our previous post introducing the news system, we pushed lot of small changes... Let's have a quick look.

Add a badge to your profile

Your profile can now display a badge under your name. Publish your first public chapter and you'll earn the Author badge automatically, and there are a couple of others to collect for those who joined us early.

You are in controle. No badge selected by default, it's up to you to decide which badge you display. You can always come back to change it, and even remove any badge if you prefer staying discreet.

More badges to come overtime.

Configuration
Book cover

We improve the UX for you to configure the cover of your book. That was one of the top feedback we received.

Hopefully, the new unified popup will prove easier to use. Let us know!

Profile setup

The profile edit page got refreshed: bigger profile picture, we reorganised a bit the data as well. Nothing ground breaking but hopefully it will make more sense for you to have better controle. And of course the new section to configure your badges.

Reader experience

Left, Center, Right ; the classic alignment trio is now available. And it is also carries into Word exports for maximum conveniency.

Narrow mode: any user can select to see a chapter either narrow, which is a bit more book-like side, or full width. It's available for any reader and even in the editor.

Tech part

The main recent improvement is the synchronisation between your device and the platform: it should be quicker and uses a lot less data — handy if you write on mobile.

And we also fixed some minor issues here and there, more details in the release notes section.

If you have any idea or anything is bothering you, feel free to reach out through our contact form and feature requests pages.
