Version history

v0.26.x

current

September 2026

  • Set your book’s status — in progress, completed, on hold or abandoned.

  • Book cards refreshed — see the book’s status, and turn the card over for the synopsis.

  • Profile links show the site’s icon and your handle, and more platforms are supported.

Fixes

  • A long link no longer pushes a profile page wider than the screen.

  • The book card’s flip button no longer covers the status and date line.

  • Like and comment counts now look the same everywhere, and headings inside a What’s New post no longer outsize its title.

v0.25.x

August 2026

  • Sharing a book or chapter now shows a wide card with the cover, title and author, instead of a cropped image.

  • Profiles, What’s New posts and feature requests share the same card.

  • Book titles, synopses and chapter text now tell browsers and screen readers which language they are written in.

  • Covers and profile pictures now load much faster — a smaller copy is served everywhere. Your original is kept of course.

Fixes

  • Book and chapter links now show their preview card in WhatsApp.

  • Chaptergather can now be installed to your home screen again.

  • Badges that link somewhere are now clickable across the whole badge, not just the text.

v0.24.x

August 2026

  • A progress bar shows how far you are through a chapter as you read.

  • Your progress is saved as you read, so you can pick up where you left off.

  • Your chapter list shows what you have finished and what you started.

  • Authors can see how their book is being read, chapter by chapter.

Fixes

  • Fixed a chapter staying on “Loading this chapter…” when opened from its book.

v0.23.x

August 2026

  • Chapterstack is now Chaptergather — same platform, same books, only the name changed.

  • The site has moved to chaptergather.app.

v0.22.x

August 2026

  • Sharing a link now shows the cover, title and description in any chat or social app.

  • Your published books, chapters and public profile can now be found by search engines.

Fixes

  • Fixed book, chapter and profile pages appearing empty for a moment when opened from a link.

  • Fixed stray dashes appearing in book and chapter previews.

v0.21.x

August 2026

  • Books and chapters now have readable web addresses.

  • Your activity now loads as you scroll.

  • See your chapter’s word count as you write.

  • A “Since 2026” badge marking the year you joined.

Fixes

  • Fixed a book or the writing dashboard not opening with no connection.

  • Fixed not being able to tell which chapters are available offline.

  • Fixed your activity showing extra edits.

v0.20.x

July 2026

  • Book language — pick the language you write in, shown in Discover and on the book page.

  • AI disclosure icons on the book page.

  • Choose how your cover picture is framed — cropped to fill, or shown whole.

  • Opening a book now takes you straight into its first chapter.

Fixes

  • Fixed a blank strip appearing under book covers.

  • Fixed staying scrolled at the bottom of the page when moving to another chapter.

v0.19.x

July 2026

  • Profile badges — earn badges and choose which one to display on your profile.

  • A reorganised profile page.

Fixes

  • Fixed a public author profile becoming unreachable when its handle was cleared.

  • Fixed the reader page spinning forever instead of reporting a problem when the app’s offline storage could not be opened.

v0.18.x

July 2026

  • Cover editing in one place — tap your book’s cover, or the Change cover button, to upload or replace a picture, remove it, and pick a background colour, all from a single panel with a live preview.

Fixes

  • Fixed the close button drifting out of reach at the top of a long pop-up on small screens.

v0.17.x

July 2026

  • Adjustable reading width — switch a chapter’s text between a narrow, book-like column and full width, on both the reader page and the writer’s editor (each remembers its own preference).

  • On the last chapter of a book, the Next button becomes Review, taking you straight to the book’s reviews.

  • Text alignment — align any paragraph or heading left, center, or right while writing. Readers see the same alignment, and it is kept in Word exports.

Fixes

  • Fixed an author’s own unpublished book showing as not found on the reader page instead of a preview.

  • Fixed a book you were invited to review showing as not found instead of opening the chapter to review.

  • Fixed being unable to start a new comment thread after an author reopened a review on a chapter you were reviewing.

  • Fixed a comment that could not be posted staying stuck and retrying endlessly in the background.

v0.16.x

July 2026

  • What's New — a new section with announcements and updates from the Chaptergather team.

  • Faster syncing that uses less data.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where newly registered accounts could be logged out shortly after signing up.

  • Fixed the project title showing twice on a book’s reader page.

  • Fixed an author’s public profile showing as not found even though their published book was visible to readers.

  • Small refinements — clearer close buttons, and inline-edit fields that now auto-save as you type.

v0.14.0

June 2026

  • Storage usage and limits — your account now has a storage allowance covering attachments, covers, and your profile picture (files capped at 10 MB), with a new Storage section in Settings showing how much you have used and every stored file organised by project and chapter.

  • Import EPUB books — start a new project from an .epub file (EPUB 2 and 3) and each chapter is brought in automatically, ready to edit. Copy-protected (DRM) files can't be imported, so export a DRM-free copy first.

v0.13.0
